Project

The #TERRA project investigates how adolescents in Portugal develop pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors. It aims to identify the key factors shaping these attitudes and behaviors, create a measurement tool to assess daily environmentally impactful actions tailored to adolescence, and track changes over time and in real time. The findings will support initiatives that foster ecological and responsible habits among young people.

This project comprises five goals:

Identify the most relevant psychological, socioeconomic, and cultural determinants of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors among adolescents.

Develop a measure to assess ecologically relevant behaviors that is sensitive to adolescents’ daily routines and level of autonomy.

Characterize the pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors of Portuguese  adolescents and assess the ecological  impact of their behaviors.

Aanalyze the development of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors and clarify how family and school dynamics contribute to this development throughout high school.

Analyze variations in adolescents’ ecological behaviors over a 15-day period and clarify how daily experiences contribute to these day-to-day changes.
